Performance JVM Arguments (Optional)

Use one of these presets in your Forge installation's JVM arguments to improve performance. Choose based on how much RAM your PC has.

8GB RAM PC
Allocates 4GB to Minecraft. Good starting point for most mid-range PCs.
-Xms2G -Xmx4G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=20 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=15 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=100 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=4M
16GB RAM PC
Allocates 6GB to Minecraft. Better for higher-end setups.
-Xms3G -Xmx6G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=20 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=15 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=100 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M

In the Minecraft Launcher, go to Installations → Forge → Edit → More Options → JVM Arguments and paste exactly one of these lines. Do not allocate all of your RAM to Minecraft—leave some for your OS and other apps.
